Wedding Guest List
Are you deciding who to put on the wedding guest list? It is a hard decision some times. There are many things to consider. Let us help you out with some of these key things to think about.
When you have specifics to help narrow down your list, it makes it easier to decide who to put on the wedding guest list. Instead of feeling bad when someone asks you why you did not invite them to your wedding, now you will have the reason because you created a specifics list.
- How much space do you have? Where is the wedding being held? If in a church or other special building, there may only be a certain number of people allowed there.
- Where is the wedding being held? If you are having the wedding in a different state or country than your hometown, which will narrow down your search immediately, as some acquaintances or friends may not be able to travel that far.
- Who is paying? Traditionally, in the past, the bride’s parents paid for everything and would determine the wedding guest list, so the budget could be controlled. The groom’s family would be told how many guests they could invite. Today, many people can help contribute to the wedding guest list, especially since there are now social media sites that can help families raise funds to help, if needed. So everyone can be involved in deciding the wedding guest list, nowadays. Do you have any traditions that have run in your family, you want to keep alive and use in your wedding?
If children are being invited, make sure you have fun, inexpensive, and possibly free ideas you can find online to entertain them. Also, once you have the wedding guest list narrowed down, you can start sending out the invitations for your special day. As the invitations come back with RSVP checked, you can give total numbers to your caterer or anyone else needing to know before the big day. You can also start designing how you want the guest chairs to be set up at your wedding.
You can also have place cards, and other reception things coordinated, now that you have a number of guests in mind. Set up your reception tables in a creative, fun way. Imagine creating a main table with a wedding time capsule. At each table, on the plates is a “Message to the Future” letter for guests to fill out. They can make fun predictions about how many children the couple will have, where they will live, or other wisdom the guests have learned from their own marriages. Then, each guest can put these letters in the wedding time capsule, for the happy couple to read when they open it again on their 25th anniversary and reminisce about what their first year of marriage was like.
