Make a Love Video
Learn how to make a love video to pass down to your children. No, this is not the video you are probably thinking of. I am talking about something that is even more special. It is a love video that will be treasured forever. With so much negativity online and in the news, I wanted to offer something different for Valentine’s day.
Are you looking for the perfect gift for your loved one for the holiday? Many times we really do not know what we have until it is gone. This is why I want to strongly encourage you to preserve your wisdom, memories, future predictions, and hope for your kids to look back on.
There are many fun questions to answer in this video. Make a video about your marriage and tell stories about how you found each other, how you keep your marriage alive, and your plans for the future. Have fun finding compatibility questions online to answer, if you need help or ideas for this video. It may turn out to be better, because it will show how real you are as a couple and end up arguing over your compatibility answers.
Talk to your future children in the love video.
You could even have someone else video record the answers separately, then when the final video is put together, you will be able to watch it together as a couple, and hopefully laugh at each other. Finish the video with you both together talking to your children.
Sit back to back in the video, answering these compatibility questions. In the end, you can use this funny skit on your video of these questions answered to explain that it is not a test online that determines whether or not you are right for each other, but instead constant communication, problem solving skills, unconditional love, etc that keeps you together and forever in love.
Your biography in the love video.
Start with a biography about yourselves. How would you describe yourself? If you want to have some real fun, ask your spouse, separately, how they would describe you. This is something for your children to have, when you have passed away. It is a great keepsake for your great grandchildren who may never get a chance to meet you.
They say opposites attract. See if that is true with some of the answers you give for the compatibility test.
- What is your partner great at doing?
- What is their worst habit?
- What does a typical day look like to you both?
- What does marriage mean to you?
- How do you help each other out in your marriage?
- What is the best surprise you have received in your marriage?
- What was your first date like? What do you continually like to do, for fun, as a couple?
- What do you think your marriage will be like when you are going through empty nest syndrome?
- What do you think your marriage will look like 20 years from now?
Save your love video answers in a Wedding Time Capsule.
Teach your children about using each other’s love language in your marriage. Learn more about what I am talking about with love language, here. It can be a marriage saver to read about this.
Finally, end the video recording or hand writing a “Message to the Future” letter to your spouse and your future children. What is life like now, compared to what you think it will be like by the time you have your children open this Wedding Time Capsule and view this video, read the letters, and reminisce over other sentimental heirloom items you have saved from your marriage. Save receipts from your favorite restaurants, gas receipts, a local newspaper, family photos, etc. Finally, choose a “Do Not Open Until” date for your Wedding Time Capsule to be opened again. Choose a date that is far away enough, that you forget what you preserved in your Wedding Time Capsule.
