Are They Done Yet? – Entertaining Wedding Guests
I have been to weddings where I am waiting and waiting for the “guests of honor” to finish their fun time of photography. What do I do while I wait as a guest? Awkward. There is a room full of people from many different ages and backgrounds, who may or may not know each other. This can be great for the social butterflies, however for the introverts this can be uncomfortable. Help tell your guests what to do. Entertaining wedding guests can be a difficult thing to do. What are some creative ways to keep them busy?
There are many things that can keep the party going. No down time for the guests allowed.
Let the Games Begin: (What happens before the food and dancing)
For an outdoor wedding, there are many things you can do. You can set up outdoor sports, like volleyball, croquet, giant connect 4, twister, or Jenga, a bounce house, basketball, ect.
Make sure you have someone taking photos while everyone is playing and talking at this time, while you have another photographer taking the actual wedding party photos. The married couple may want to see the interaction going on, later, while they were getting their main wedding photos taken.
You could also have a table set up for guests to write notes, they will attach to balloons later to release when the lovely couple arrives.
More Ideas about Entertaining Wedding Guests
For an indoor wedding, you could have a magic show, or have someone doing face painting for kids. You could have someone start bringing out the appetizers, look at photos of the wedding party set out on a table with cards next to them of how they are connected to or know the bride and/or groom. You could also have a video playing of how the bride and groom met, proposed, and see their future. You could also set up a specific table for guests to play cards, or board games while they wait on the main guests to arrive.

Another creative suggestion, to entertain your guests while they wait, is to have them fill out the “Message to the Future” letters from a Time Capsule , while they sit at their designated table. Everyone has a story to tell. Many times it helps to pay it forward, and share your story (whether funny or insightful), tips, advice, predictions of where you see the couple in the future….for them to read when struggling, or just need a laugh later in their married life.
So go ahead, leave those “Message to the Future” letters on your reception tables for guests to fill out. You can make your own or order pre-done “Message to the Future” letters from https://www.timecapsule.com/product/extra-wedding-message-to-the-future-100-pack/.
When you are done with the letters, you can have the guests put them in a decorative Wedding Time Capsule, to open when the couple chooses.
Most importantly, have fun. Leave a comment below of a favorite activity you did while you waited on the lovely couple to arrive at the reception. We look forward to reading about other unique ideas.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
