Tips to Manage your Time
Are you looking for tips to manage your time? As an entrepreneur it can be very difficult to figure out how to manage your time. It is also important to make sure you give yourself some time away from work. That is the time when you actually can come up with more inspiring ideas, when you are having fun with family and friends away from work. You cannot keep giving to others if you are not refueling yourself as well.
We start learning about it at a young age. At what age did you first start to bring home homework from school? I hated homework, like so many other kids. I wanted to go out and play as soon as I got home from school. It was always a rule of my parent’s that we had to get our homework done before we had playtime. Back then, I hated that. Now, as an adult, I can respect that. It is after all, a rule that has helped shape me into who I am to this day. I am a dedicated, passionate, and determined person when it comes to work ethic. So, now that it has been years later, I can see why my parents encouraged me to manage my time wisely. For that I am beyond grateful.
Time waits for nobody. We are not promised tomorrow. Take full advantage of today and make the most of it. Isn’t it amazing how as a young child, we cannot wait to grow up and be a teenager. Then after we become an adult, we want to go back in time and relive things or change things.

What messages about managing time wisely are you passing on to your kids?
I know one thing I will so be teaching my children, is to surround yourself with wise counsel and mentors to teach you how to manage your time wisely. An accountability partner in your life is one sure fire way to keep on track of your goals.
1. With so much going on in the world nowadays, it is a good thing there is also new apps out there to help us prioritize and schedule our day. I would lose myself if I lost my phone. I would not know who I need to meet, talk to, or do every day if I did not have some sort of a planner. Record your must dos and urgents. Create time blocks for people and schedule when they will begin and end.
2. Take the first 15 minutes of your day to plan your day. Then you can have a checklist to make sure you are accomplishing your goals. Schedule time for interruptions.
3. Put up a Do Not Disturb sign on your office door if you have to, to ground yourself and get things done. Think about your main goal or what you want to accomplish before each task. This will help you stay focused on your goals.
4. Turn your cell phone, social media, or other distractions off for at least 1 hour per day. You will be amazed at what you accomplish by not answering your phone, email, text, or other forms of social media just because your phone makes a sound. The world will not end if you do not answer it today. It is amazing how people survived in the past decades without all these distractions. So, go ahead try it, and turn off your cell phone or any other noise making distraction for an hour.
5. Read about the Time Management matrix as Steven Covey discusses. Use this to see where you are spending your time. Fill out the grid for yourself. Make a list of everything you are doing and assign it to one of the quadrants in the matrix. This is very helpful to manage your time more wisely.
