Tell Your Younger Self Something
Tell Your Younger Self Something
If you go could go back to the time you were just starting out in life, what would you tell your younger self? Having gained all the experience, gone through the trials you have gone through and seen what you have seen, what things you would tell yourself to change, do, not do or simply approach differently. We always tell ourselves we have grown wiser with age but never focus on what we could do as adults about it. Imagine the versions of yourself meeting again and talking about life as it was and as it is at the moment. The older version must have so many things to tell the younger one. Our mementos allow you to do that as it has many benefits for those leading the same path as you did. Here are some of the sections you should consider when creating the mementos.
Business
Our business life is among the most important aspects of our lives when growing up. Now you know so much about your trade that you do not need any type of learning or are sure that nothing may take you by surprise. But, looking back to the time you were just starting out, you must have a few nuggets of wisdom to tell the younger you. What business partner did you take too seriously and they let you down? Or which ones did you ignore and lost out on their trust only to realize that they are the best in your line of business? Which deals lost you money and which ones made you good money? You can include all that and more in your mementos as they will certainly help lots of people growing up without a direction in their life.
Education
People view education differently and so must you. Maybe you wished to have gotten a good education but did not due to some circumstances. Or you got the best education but realized that its worth in real life is very little. Whatever your experience is with education, out all that into writing. Some of us have grown believing that without education nothing will go on in the world. Others have grown up believing that education is a big waste of time and money. Both schools of thought have their advantages and disadvantages and why they believe in what they believe in. What is your personal take of education, and how has your path in life changed or reinforced that point of view? Such are the items to put into the mementos for those behind you to read. Tell yourself what your belief was on education and how life affected it.
Love
No one is born knowing how their love life will wind up. You could grow up believing in your own things yet learnt that they are just in your head and life does not work that way. First of all, love is something we never know what to expect of it. Ever ignored someone in your life only to end up falling so madly in love with them you wonder how you never noticed or even considered them to be a potential love interest? We have all been there. Or loved someone so much only to learn that they do not love you back? Well, your annual this memento to teach your younger self a few lessons about love that you wish you knew growing up. What if you could tell your younger self how you could avoid the heartbreaks and find the right person earlier? Here is your chance to do that.
Trust
Trust is the most delicate aspect of our life. It is compared many times to glass that that is broken only once and cannot be mended again. As an adult, you have must have had your own lessons with love and how you made use of it. You can detail your failures, triumphs and just about anything there was learning about your trust issues. By now, we know that you have your own principles about love. Some resolve not to trust anyone until the other party proved themselves trustworthy while others believe that one should trust everyone until the other party has proven themselves not worthy of their trust. You can state the reasons why you have that perception of life and trust and then out that into writing for it may help a significant number of people out there. We always aim to educate with these mementos.
Fun
Everyone and their take on having fun. Some believe is utter waste of time while others believe it is something anything one cannot go on without. What was your belief growing up? And has it changed or remained the same over the past few years? Having fun is a relative term also. One’s work may also be part of their having fun. If you love what you do, you are sure to be having fun. On the other hand, people who are too busy with work and other aspects of their lives are sure to know how to find ways to have fun when a break presents itself. You can include such aspects of your life into this memento for it has immeasurable importance to anyone who will read it. Maybe your children or some children you will be mentoring will also benefit from it. It is thus a worthwhile endeavor.
