Sort Photos Chronologically
Learn how to sort photos chronologically, so that you are not overwhelmed when you are ready to put your craft or scrapbook pages together. The process will be even smoother by setting aside time to preplan and organize. First of all you want to make sure you have a table or desk large enough to spread out all of your photos and other memorabilia you may have.
It may make it look worse than what it was before you started, but there is a method to this madness. Next, the organization process begins as you sort photos chronologically. Have available envelopes you can label and post it notes to label the different piles as you sort them. It is like separating the puzzle pieces to put the puzzle together faster and easier in the end.
If you do not have dates or information on the back of each photo, take a guess and label them with the year and what was happening or who all was in the photo. Sort photos by theme, then sort them chronologically. For example, if you find a bunch of photos with your children, sort them in piles of birth, milestones, birthday parties, school, etc.
On sticky notes write down categories of all the current projects you are wanting to get done or make. For example, if you are wanting to make something in the Christmas category, you will want to sort your photos in order of the years of your many family Christmas memories, parties, or presents received.
Sort your photos in piles next to the appropriate sticky notes. Then, re-sort the photos in each pile so they are in the order that you want them for your photo album or project. Finally, place each pile in the envelopes or acid-free boxes, so that they are organized and ready to use when you need them for your project.
If you want to save even more space in your craft room, you can also organize your photos on your computer before you print them off and use them. Make sure you save all your photos in one category so that you do not forget where to go again to get them. Whether your photos are saved to a social media page, your phone, or your computer, make sure you put them all in your “Photos” file on your computer. If you want an even more secure place, save them to the Cloud. Wherever you save the photos, make sure you label the album you want it in. Then, drag and drop your photos sorting them chronologically. You can even order the photos by date when you upload them to the album.
We all want to remember times that were important to us. Photos tell stories, which is why it is important that you sort photos chronologically, for future generations to enjoy and understand the story from the beginning. It will be so much fun to show your projects to family and friends when you are done. The most important thing to remember is to have fun and not get overwhelmed. It only takes a few minutes every day working on your organizing, then let the fun begin as you easily put your projects together for others to enjoy. Go back to your childhood and work to the present, organizing your photos. Even collect a few mementos or memorabilia too and put it all in a decorative Family Time Capsule that you make from the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule from www.timecapsule.com.
