Save Mementos
Save mementos that have special meaning in your life and heart. Many of our favorite items we want to save to be a part of our photo album or scrapbook story, but it will not fit in there, because it is not flat. One unique and heartfelt way to preserve these sentimental memories and save mementos is to put them in a baby, wedding, or any occasion DIY time capsule.
Save mementos from special occasions or events.
Make sure you still save the photos for these special times, but also include things like rewards or certificates that may have been earned from school or work. Press your flowers from your prom, wedding, or a first date and preserve them in a time capsule. Special occasions like holidays are a great time to save mementos and memorabilia. Save your Christmas programs, hand made crafts or decorations, party invitations, or other keepsakes.
Save mementos from a vacation.
There are so many memories and bonding times that happen with family and friends on a vacation. Save ticket stubs from movies you may have seen, or special places you visited. You could also save a menu from a favorite restaurant. Souvenirs are also great items to save in a DIY vacation time capsule, to open decades later and reminisce about all the places you went to and things you have seen in the past. You can also save a map, travel brochures, post cards and business cards from your favorite places.
Save mementos from your baby’s first years.
It is always an exciting time when a new family member is born. Save your ultrasound photos, hospital bracelets, first outfit and shoes, along with other first year memories. The parents can fill out the profile book of the world for the baby to read, when older and he or she opens their own baby time capsule. Have someone buy a newspaper on the exact day that the baby was born, so you know all of the major news headlines that day, and save it in the time capsule. The time capsule is also a place to save baby’s first haircut and first tooth.
Save mementos from your kid’s life.
You walk in their bedroom, and it is filled with so many toys. Your kids come home with artwork and you put it on the refrigerator as a proud parents. A kid’s life can quickly fill up with many milestone moments and it is very important to save mementos from those times. You may not have room to save every piece of artwork, but you can take photos of each of them to save in a scrapbook. Save their ribbons earned from school sports, special cards or love letters as they get older, and other favorite items from their life.
Whatever you are interested in or whatever you feel defines your life at this time, you can make a time capsule for. What are you passionate about? You can even make a time capsule with your best friend or co-workers from your job too. It is a fun gift to give each other, and an enduring craft that will be a blast to open in the future, on the date of your choosing.
So, go ahead and check out these any occasion, do it yourself, time capsules. What would you make a time capsule for? Comment below.
