Creating a Time Capsule
Creating a Time Capsule
Creating a time capsule is so much fun. There are nostalgic feelings and thoughts that come up as you are creating a time capsule. It is like a memory box, but you do not open it until decades later. A time capsule is a container that saves your most important or favorite items that represent your life or milestone moment.
Items Needed
- Time Capsule
- Any container or the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule seen here. You can use the special photo printer paper included with it to print out any photos you want. Then, put the photos on the outside of your DIY time capsule to decorate it for whatever theme you want. For example, if you are making a personal life journey, print off photos of yourself from young until now. You can also use the included scrapbook type themes from the “online designer” on the website to get you started.
- Simply, insert the photos into the scrapbook type theme. Put your photo paper in the printer, and then apply these special sticker pages to the outside of your DIY time capsule. If you would rather paint, or use markers directly on the outside of this DIY time capsule, you can. Also, you can add your own artwork to the outside, have people sign the outside of it, or attach any scrapbook type embellishments to decorate it however you want.
- Decorative Paper
- Use any decorative paper from any store is needed. Pick out something that expresses your theme of the DIY time capsule. Heavier paper, such as card stock or scrapbook papers are best to use as the base of the time capsule background. Attach your own photos to the outside to decorate it, or use the scrapbook type themes as seen in the “online designer,” as discussed above. Make sure you use acid free paper for your DIY time capsule, so it does not destroy your photographs over time.
- Scissors
- Trim your photos, and cut along the dotted lines to make the perfect “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule. There are even fun design scissors you can use to cut out photos in an artistic way.
- Adhesives
- You can use rubber cement, regular Elmer’s glue, tape, Mod Podge, or other adhesives when creating a time capsule. Sprinkle glitter or other fun sequins or decorations on top of the glue to add a special look to your time capsule. Again, make sure you use an adhesive that is nontoxic and acid free. You can also add decorative stickers to the outside of your time capsule, showing your artistic style.
- Markers and Pens
- Arrange your photos how you want them to be displayed on your time capsule. Use permanent markers to write on the time capsule if you want to. You can also use colorful pens to write labels for the photos or events, when creating a time capsule.
- Mementos and Memorabilia
- Gather special and sentimental items from your milestone moment or event to preserve in the time capsule. You may want to include a note card attached to each item with the reason why you are including it, what the item is, or if a photo who is in it and what they are doing.
So, if you made a time capsule, what special event or milestone moment would it be for? Comment below.
