Saving Disney Memories
Saving Disney Memories
Saving Disney memories in a photo album or your own Vacation DIY Time Capsule is important. “Let it Go, Let it Go…” Don’t stop reading! I know what you are thinking . . .”I am so sick and tired of hearing that song and seeing that movie.” But, please, indulge me for a few paragraphs. My wife and I, along with my parents, went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today. We did all kinds of things today. We watched the Indiana Jones Stunt Show, looked at the “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids” play area, went on the Tower of Terror, and even rode the Rockin’ Roller Coaster while listening to “Dude Looks Like A Lady” by Aerosmith. All-in-all it was a really fun day. While the park is a little pricey, I would say it is “above average” value for what you get.
One of the last shows we watched was the “Frozen Sing-A-Long” show. This was truly amazing! This show featured the “Arondale historians” as they recounted the story of Elsa and Anna. Christof and Anna were there and helped share their story as well. This was a little different perspective than the rest of the Frozen characters have presented in the world and it was good to see things from a little different perspective.
As I have shared before, my wife and I do not have kids of our own. It is not that we do not want kids, but more that God has just never allowed this desire to be fulfilled. I believe with all my heart that we will, one day, enjoy the pitter-patter of tiny feet in our home. Until that time comes, we choose to live vicariously through moments and events such as this.
Disney brings out the child in all of us.
As these iconic songs were played on a huge high-definition screen, with the words, and our live characters added their input, the crowd joined them in singing these amazing scores of music. What I witnessed today was amazing. People of all ages, both young and young-at-heart “belting out” these amazing scores, measure for measure, at the top of their lungs. I saw children who, just 10 minutes before were asleep in their strollers, standing in front of their chairs to get better views of Anna. When the music began, they sang the songs from memory and even did their own made up choreography while singing.
Disney Sing a Long Fun
On and on, song after song, these children and their parents joined together to sing. We sang about building snowmen, and what the snowmen do in summer. We sang about things that haven’t happened “in forever.” We even sang about “finishing each other’s sandwiches” and how “Love is an Open Door.” Children who had to be carried in by their parents were mesmerized by the laser light show and the video they had seen hundreds, if not thousands of times already. They were even more amazed when Elsa herself made an appearance.
When Elsa came to the stage, all eyes were on her. She sang her famous song for the climax of the show. As much as the parents hate this song, even they were enjoying it along with their children. Then, it happened. In a glorious moment of Disney magic . . . Elsa made it actually snow inside the theater! The gasps from the kids as they saw the snow was amazing! There was a sparkle in their eyes. They showed their mom and showed their dad! They wanted to make sure no one missed the fact that it was now snowing inside! Now, I know how this “effect” was done, but I will not ruin it for those who will attend. I will only say that I actually left the theater and entered the 92 degree day with “snow” still on me.
Save your Time Capsule Sentimental Moments
Why do I tell you all of this? No, this is not a review of the park or it’s shows. (Which, as a side note, if it were a review, the park would score highly!) I have to admit something to you . . . I had tears in my eyes during the last song. Not only was the “Disney magic” a little too much for me, but I was also moved at seeing the affect it had on our young community members. These were “Time Capsule Moments” for me today!
I can’t wait until I have little boys and girls (In this case, especially little girls) to take to these parks! I want to “spoil” my little girl for one day and let her be the “princess” I know she will be. Every girl deserves to be treated this way! As we grow older, we learn to “pamper” ourselves or those we love in different ways. Most women would probably not want to be dressed up like Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, but EVERY little girl does! The problem is getting them to put on “normal clothes” to go back to school!
My heart was touched by the moment today. Seeing the awe and wonder in the children of today really struck me. I do not believe I will ever forget these moments today. To be sure, I will place the video of today’s show into my “Vacation Time Capsule” created from our “Any Occasion DIY Time Capsule” kit. This vacation will be one that I will remember for a long time as a result. While I may not be able to capture the inspiring moment of Disney magic, I can save the video of the moment and relive it again and again.
