What to Save in a Baby Journal
What to Save in a Baby Journal
“Sleep training breaks my heart.” – Ashley H.
This is a quote I read on Facebook the other day. Record moments like these when you have a hard time punishing your child or letting go. Save these moments and your feelings or thoughts in a journal for your child to read when they are older. It is a great way to prove to your child that you were trying to do what was best for them when they were born and growing up. Then write your child a “Message to the Future” about hopes or wishes that you have for them when they grow up.
Being a parent is difficult many times. Leave a legacy for your child by teaching them how to raise a baby themselves so they are prepared when they have a child. Imagine your child opening their own baby time capsule when they are old enough to appreciate the sentimental and the nostalgic items you saved. Feel the baby time capsule with important mementos and memorabilia from their first year of life. Then add a do not open until date on the lid. Let your child open this baby time capsule when they graduate high school or when they have a baby themselves in the future.
Then, have a Baby Time Capsule opening ceremony with family and friends gathered around. Reminisce about what life was like when your baby was born. What would you save in the Baby Time Capsule?
Record your baby’s milestones. Personalize the front of your baby journal with their name. Document their first year of life. It is priceless. Don’t forget to write down your thoughts and feelings as you see your baby growing up so fast. Record their teeth and growth on charts, bath and favorite books you read to them to help them go to sleep. Notes from family and friends are always fun to save in a baby journal too. Imagine your child reading these notes or “Message to the Future” letters, years later when they graduate high school. That will be a meaningful, time capsule moment. These “Message to the Future” stationary letters are available in the Baby Time Capsule, seen here.
Also include a family tree in your baby journal. Some of your baby’s great grandparents may no longer be around by the time the journal is read, or Baby Time Capsule is opened. Make sure to include photos of them too. Include sample pages from your calendar, day timer, or this week’s schedule. It will be so interesting for your baby to read what life was like daily, when he or she grows up. What all did you have to do daily to help take care of your baby? You can even make a weekly video and save it to a You Tube channel for your baby to see, years later into the future.
List your and your baby’s favorite foods, drinks, games to play, places to go, sayings, hobbies, tv shows and movies, etc. Make an “about me” page of yourself as parents. You can also find fun questions done for you already in the Profile book included in the Baby Time Capsule. Overall, remember a baby journal book is meant to be personalized. So, have fun and write whatever you want in it.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
– Marcie
