Record Childhood Memories
Record childhood memories today so you do not regret it years later. Do not wait until your child graduates high school, and say something like: “I wish I had more childhood pictures of him.” Get lost in the fun now, as your child grows, and take pictures and videos of your son or daughter.
Everyone has a story to tell.
In order to start recording childhood memories, you have to be ready. Have the camera or video camera ready during daily moments and milestone moments. You are recording childhood memories to leave a legacy for your child and the future family to look back on, and say things like “that was you? wow.”
Do not wait until it is too late and then, end up saying: “You know, I can’t remember what it was like when…..” Record childhood memories with words that tell the story going on, including the who, what, when, where, and why. Help future generations know what life was like when you were a child.
Just because you do not have a photo of something, does not mean it did not happen. So, connect the dots of stories for your childhood, by writing down the stories in between each photo. Stories are very powerful, and many times we do not know what we have until it is gone.
In our last blog, we started to talk about recording baby’s firsts and their milestone moments. In this blog, we are moving to the next stages of life as our childhood starts to grow into the school age years. You can use a scrapbook, photo album, blog, website, social media, etc to capture and record childhood memories.
It is so much fun to see changes and growth over the years s you record childhood memories. It is like opening a Baby Time Capsule, as you watch your child become who they are meant to be over the years. See what all you have accomplished as a family and how your children have reacted to all the changes in life.
Remember when your child first walked, lost their first tooth, or started to say “Hi” and “Bye-Bye?” Such precious moments. You want to remember the good times and challenges, big events and celebrations, along with little moments as well. Record childhood memories to tell your story and let your children know how much you love them. Record some of the following young childhood memories:
- Your favorite place to go to was?
- Your best friend was? You liked to do ___________ with them all the time.
- Your favorite outfit was….

In our next blog, we will talk about your child’s memories as far as birthdays. Stay tuned. I hope this gives you more ideas of how to record childhood memories and even what tangible items to save in a Baby’s Time Capsule, so your child can open up and read, look at, and view the videos you may have saved for years. What a fun day that will be when your grown child can open their own time capsule reminiscing with the family, as their favorite shirt or stuffed animal is pulled out from the time capsule, while a video of them growing up is playing in the background. Priceless.
