Profile Book of the World
Completing a profile book of the world about yourself and your child is so much fun to do. This profile book is included in the Baby, Wedding, and “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule. For this blog, we are going to be using the example as if you made a School Time Capsule for your child. What would you write about our current world and the major headlines? What is the most memorable story for you that happened this past year? Record your answers in the profile book of the world.
We didn’t want to create another “school days” memory book. After all, there are already an abundance of ordinary memory books on the market today. We wanted to create something new. We wanted something that would capture the essence of your child’s life this year. So we spent months asking people what they would most like to remember about their first school year. We’ve tried to incorporate the best of those ideas into the Baby Time Capsule profile book and the other profile books of the world in the other time capsules. Along with “Message to the Future” stationary, we believe this profile book will be the most cherished item in your time capsule.
While you have the rest of the year to complete it, you should review the entire book when you receive it with your time capsule. This will allow you to plan for the collection of photographs and information in the months ahead, to ensure that you create the most meaningful time capsule possible.
Most of the information required to complete the profile book of the world, will be easily compiled by you as common knowledge from your everyday life. Information about society at large (entertainment, sports, trends, and issues) is provided in our special Year in Review printout. To receive your copy of this helpful information, be sure to visit our Year in Review page on our website, seen here.
So, whose answers are used to fill in the blanks? If you were to fill in the blanks of this book with the answers provided by your child, the information might be humorous, but would likely be less than accurate. You should be selective when deciding which blanks get your child’s answer, and which should be based on your knowledge of your child’s personality. For fun, you could write their response in the parentheses next to the actual answer.
We also recommend making a video interview with fun questions. The video will be great to use to capture your child’s fun and funny responses to some questions. Waiting to complete the book until after the interview will prevent a duplication of effort.
This is your child’s special link to the past. Continually imagine your child opening this book 12 years or more in the future. He or she will be looking back to a time for which only you can provide the recollections. Make this picture of the past as complete and accurate as possible for your child by filling in all of the information. Have fun filling the rest of the time capsule with your child’s favorite mementos and memories. Then choose a date in the future to open the time capsule, and reminisce as you read all these answers again, watch the video, and reflect on the good old days.
What is one question you would ask in a time capsule video? Comment below.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
