First Date Memories
Life used to be so easy. You would get up, brush your hair, play with friends, go to school, come home and play again. Now there is pressure as you and your baby girl is going out on her first date. I said that right, you “and” your baby girl. It is a time of letting go and moving on to a new exciting journey for both of you. There are many mixed feelings and thoughts about your first date.
Prepare for her first date.
What do you do as the parents to raise your children up in the way they should go? How do you teach them manners, values, safety and decision making skills, etc? From the moment you open the door when her first date arrives, to the moment she comes home, it can be nerve wrecking.
What will she say or do on her first date? What will you so while you wait for your daughter to come home from her first date? Did she listen to you all these years about what a great guy looks like? Did you teach her to make a guy checklist so she has a starter point to not give in and has standards?
It is a time for first date memories for the daughter and her parents. It may be time to give your daughter her own Baby Time Capsule, in which you had family and friends write “Message to the Future” letters to your baby girl. Some of these letters from great grandparents who are no longer around. Some of these letters offer wisdom, tips, and other predictions about her world in the future, like how to date and what college she will go to.
First date ideas to try.
So, what did you do on your first date? Who was your first date with and how did you meet him or her? Reminiscing can be so much fun, and it can open up great conversation with your daughter before she goes out on her first date. You baby girl may have questions about what are appropriate and fun things to do on a first date. Pass on some of these ideas or other helpful hints.
- Go to the park and ride bikes or hike.
- Have a bonfire with friends.
- Have a picnic.
- Walk your dogs together.
- Play video games or play cards.
- Bake something together.
- Go see a movie.
- Volunteer somewhere together.
- Go to the mall and play a scavenger hunt game there.
- Go bowling together.
- Go to a concert.
- Go to the fair or amusement park.
- Go to a sports night at school together.
- Go fishing together.
- Go to the zoo or a museum.
- Play putt-putt miniature golf together.
- etc.
The memories of our first date, first kiss, first milestone moments are remembered for the rest of our lives. Why not preserve these memories with mementos and memorabilia from your first date in a time capsule you make together during this special time together. Make it a memorable first date and make your own time capsules. Make it a special, nostalgic day and collect things like the newspaper of that day, take photos of your sights and get a receipt from the place you ate at on your first date. Then, save these and other sentimental items from your first date in your personalized time capsule you make using the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule.
You can put any photos on the outside of this DIY Time Capsule, or you can write or paint on the outside of it to decorate it. Also, write a “Message to the Future” letter to yourself describing what you think you future husband will be and look like. It will be so much fun opening this time capsule in the future about 20 or 30 years later (on a date of your choosing).
What would you save in your own personal life journey or teenage time capsule? Comment below.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
– Marcie
