Valentine’s Day Fun for Singles
This list of Valentine’s day fun for singles, is sure to help your day pass by with love, care, and inspiring activities. You are alone sitting on your couch again wondering what you can do for Valentine’s day. You do not have to have a date on this special holiday. It is so much more than that. It is important to learn how to love yourself, before you can give it away to someone else.
When you are a couple, you look forward to Valentine’s day, but what if you are single? It can be another dreaded holiday as you watch all the happy couples buy things for each other and go out on special dates. As a counselor who worked with young couples and youth in the past, I can tell you from experience one of the best things for holidays like this is to take the focus off yourself and love on others. When you give to others, it helps keep life in perspective and can in return make you feel loved back in ways you cannot imagine.
Volunteer
Go volunteer somewhere, with another friend who is single and wants to get out on Valentine’s day. It is always interesting meeting strangers and hearing their stories, especially if they are down themselves due to struggles in life. Suddenly your depressed mood will be elevated tremendously when you give back to others by helping them. This would be Valentine’s day fun that you will never forget.
Babysit
It could also be as simple as babysitting for a couple who may want to go out on a date, that they have not had money or time for in years. Make their day special and give back to their kids at the same time, while you have fun playing with them.
A Gift
View singleness as a gift. What gifts and talents do you currently have? When you change your perspective it allows you to spend your time on more valuable things that interest you, instead of being sad or jealous of other couples you see kissing and holding hands. If you are good at teaching others, go talk to youth at a local church about dating do’s and don’ts. If you enjoy caring for others buy some basic personal necessities and take them to the homeless shelter. Spend a day doing something fun for yourself, that you feel you never have time to do. Spend all day reading books you love, taking a bubble bath, or watching your favorite movies. It is a gift you give yourself, because you may not have time at all to do these kinds of things when you get married and have kids.
Valentine’s Day Time Capsule
Show yourself how much you are worth. Make your own Valentine’s day time capsule using the “Any Occasion” DIY time capsule seen here. Create a memorable day for you future as well. Imagine your future husband being able to read the “Message to the Future” letters you wrote to yourself. Write down who you think you would like to marry. Where will you live in 20 to 30 years from now with your future family? This is a fun activity that is heartfelt, enduring, and inspiring. Fill the time capsule with your sentimental mementos and special memorabilia that describes your life or who you want to marry. Interview other family members who are married about what their advice is for marriage, or have them fill out a letter to the future too, offering wisdom, marriage stories, and daily life tips for you to read in the future when you get married or have your own Valentine’s day as a couple. It would be interesting to compare what your great grandparents and your parents think it takes to have a great, blessed marriage.
