Tell Stories of Perseverance
Tell Stories of Perseverance
Tell stories of perseverance, for one day they may inspire your children and great grandchildren. I have watched Olympics almost all of my life since a little girl. I love to watch ice skating. I dreamed of being an ice skater, along with a singer, and horseback rider, when I was younger. I remember when my dad said, if you go out and start building a barn, we may get a horse in the future. So as determined as I was, I marched right out of our house and found boards around the yard, nails, and a hammer, and started to build my “barn.” Tell stories of perseverance, because they can be funny, inspiring, motivating, and create teachable moments.
Prayer, faith, family, and friends are all influences to help me persevere in life. What helps you keep going in life, during the difficult times? Take advantage of your eager children ready to learn while they are young. Life can be so hard sometimes. You never know what may happen to you or someone you love, on a day to day basis. Teach the next generation and tell stories of perseverance to them, through the use of a time capsule.
Tell Stories in a Family Time Capsule
Create a family time capsule using the “Any Occasion” DIY time capsule seen here. You can use your own photos from your computer, laptop, tablet, etc to decorate the outside of this time capsule. It is a personalized gift, you can fill with many stories of wisdom, perseverance, inspiration, etc. Open up your photo albums and you can immediately hear stories being told. Your ancestors may no longer be around, but they can communicate through their photos and even mementos or memorabilia in a family time capsule.
For example, imagine your child is trying to learn how to ride their bike. Teach your child to persevere, by showing the many different photos of you falling down and getting back up again several times, as you were trying to learn how to ride a bike. No how difficult something is, it is how you choose to embrace it. Leave a legacy, that life is going to throw you these curves, and it is how you live every day and with purpose, that counts.
As Summer is approaching, many of us are thinking of losing weight so we can look great when we go on vacation. Perseverance takes hard work, daily grind, mentors, motivational reminders, and creativity many times. It is not always easy to get things we want. It takes time. Save photos, videos, and words of encouragement from friends and family (written on a “Message to the Future” letter), in a family time capsule. Then, in 20 or 30 years from now, open your family time capsule or personal life journey time capsule and reminisce about what life was like when you first filled that time capsule. What all have you accomplished? What was happening around you, in the world, at that time that motivated you to persevere. Who kept you going when you wanted to quit? This time capsule is a gift for all those significant in your life journey, when it is opened on a date of your choosing in the future. Embrace perseverance, for one day it may tell a great story.
So, what is a story of perseverance you could tell your children? Comment below.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
