Record Vacation Memories
Record vacation memories so that you do not forget when you are 50 what you did as a kid with the family on vacation. There may even be some things you want to repeat with your own children. What fun traditions do you do on each vacation usually? Vacations are a time to bond with family, relax, and enjoy time away from the hustle and bustle of life.
What is something different you can do this year to record vacation memories? We have some suggested questions to ask while you are away and for when you come home from vacation to answer. Have fun with this, for one day it will be a treasured memories to look back upon. Sometimes vacations influence us so much that they change who we are or what we want to do with our kids in the future.
Sometimes vacations are missions trips to help others in need or you may be taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip. You may want to help other people or learn from others experiences in life while you are on that vacation. Whatever you do, make sure you have your camera, video recorder, and use all you five senses to capture or record vacation memories. What sights, sounds, tastes, smells, or things did you touch on your vacation? Be sure to describe these or record these enough so that someone in the future, maybe your great grandchildren, can know what life was like when you were a child.
Take a pack of post it notes to quickly write down a few sentences about each day while you are on vacation. Then, save these in a journal you take with you everywhere. Sometimes we are having so much fun that we do not want to take the time to remember it, so this is a fast solution to get started. Then later, when you get home, you can expand on these quick thoughts about what happened that day on vacation.

- Why did your family choose to visit that particular place or go there for vacation?
- What all did you have to do before leaving for your vacation?
- How did you feel on the way to your vacation spot? Did you fly, drive, go by boat, etc? How long did it take to get there?
- What did you wish you brought with you?
- What were the most exciting, the scariest, and most moving things that happened on your vacation?
- How were the people you met on your trip? Did they speak a different language, and did that affect you getting your needs or wants met?
- Who did you meet that had the greatest impact on your vacation?
- Were you homesick? What did you miss the most while away from home?
- What did you learn about yourself while traveling? Was this your first time flying?
- How did you feel on your way home? Did you want to come home? Why or why not?
- What do you wish you had done differently?
- Would you go back if you had a chance?
- What advice would you give someone traveling to the same place?
Most importantly, have fun while on vacation, but make this time count too.
