What to Put in a High School Time Capsule
Learn about what to put in a high school time capsule. Save your memories from the school years and what the world is like today. As known, time capsules are filled with the intention that they will be opened or accessed at a future date.
Items to Put in your High School Time Capsule
HDD (HARD DISK DRIVE)
Obviously the hard drive won’t be around for so long since SSD (SOLID STATE DEVICE) has taken over. It would be pretty awesome to have that in a time capsule.
IPHONE
Most especially the most recent version at the time with its charger, otherwise it would be pretty much useless. The phone can also hold a lot of content on it, to save you space on other things in your capsule. Who knows if cell phones will even be around in 100 years?
Storage Devices (Memory Cards, Flash drives)
Probably in some couple of years, we won’t have to talk about megabytes and gigabyte just the bit and byte. So a present storage device of 500Gb might seem too small to hold 2 video games by then.
NEWSPAPER
Use the current date newspaper. We definitely know those won’t be around in a century.
BLU-RAY
You always have to put some kind of video recording in a time capsule. Pick a movie that was huge at the time you made your capsule, and stick it in there.
NINTENDO 64
Everyone enjoys a 64. It would be awesome to see such in several years time.
MOVIE STUBS
Collect as many as you can of all the movies that current year.
STAMPS
Stamps are must in any time capsule. Nothing captures a time period better than stamp art and its worth.
POPULAR BOOK OR SERIES
A popular series can define a year in entertainment. For today, Harry Potter or The Hunger Games series would be perfect to bury away.
A HANDWRITTEN LETTER
Just write to whoever you imagine is reading your letter. Just start schmoozing with them. It doesn’t have to be about anything, you can just tell them about your day. The weirder, the better.
THE CURRENT COKE BOTTLE
By looking at a Coca-Cola can or bottle design, you can tell what time period it came from. Who knows what they’ll look like in 100 years.
SPORTS BALLS
Sports are vulnerable to evolution. New rules and regulations in 100 years could completely change the way we see sports today.
MCDONALD’S HAPPY MEAL TOY
There’s another icon than defines a generation. No food, just the toy.
K-CUPS
Coffee will always be around no matter what, so capture the trend of the 2000s while you can.
TWINKIE’S
I think a Twinkie has been put in every time capsule ever made.
JEANS
Jeans are such a timeless piece of clothing. Just in case something happens to them in the future, it’ll be good to have a classic hanging around.
NIKE SNEAKERS
They keep on getting crazier and crazier. Can you imagine the things Nike will be producing in the future? Because let’s be honest … They aren’t going anywhere.
STANDARD LIGHT BULB
Light bulbs are constantly evolving, and comparing one today with one a hundred years from now will blow someone’s mind. Not ours, because we’ll be dead.
MONEY
I’ll be surprised if tangible money is still around that far in the future. I’m surprised it’s still around today. In the future, it’ll be all about that fictional electronic cash.
TOOTHBRUSH
What does the future in dental hygiene look like? There will probably be some kind of crazy invention or new procurers in medicine that could eliminate the toothbrush. Heck, we won’t need napkins, because mouth vacuums ‘ought to be around by then.
So, what would you put in your high school time capsule? The ideas are limitless. Reminisce with your friends and family about what life was like during the high school years, when you open this time capsule 10, 20, or 30 years later.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
– Marcie
