Preserve Grandma’s history in a time capsule. Save the photos of her life story in a photo album. This is a continuation from our previous blog called, Save Grandma’s Life Story. In that blog we offer ideas of questions to ask your grandma about the beginning of her life story. We are continuing this discussion here with other prompts for questions about your grandma and her world growing up.
If you had to guess, how much do you think a gallon of gas cost when your grandma was growing up? When we meet someone for the first time, we usually ask them to tell us their story. Everyone has a story about their life to share. Our company is all about focusing on things that really matter in life, and making things last. How do you make sure your memories last?
Do not wait until it is too late. Preserve Grandma’s history today so that you can read about her and life advice that is timeless, decades later when you open your Family Time Capsule. There are very few things in this world that are designed to last a very long time. Some buildings are built to last, but we are talking about more heartfelt, enduring things. Here are some more questions to ask your grandma or other loved ones, you want to learn more about and pass on to your great grandchildren.
- Did you have pets? If so, what kind of pets and what were their names? What all did you have to do to help take care of them?
- What did your bedroom look like growing up? Did you have to share a room with other siblings? What was that like? What was your most favorite thing about your bedroom?
- Did your family have a television? If not, what else did you do for entertainment? What were your favorite shows or radio stations to watch or listen to and why?
- What was your favorite meal to eat? When was the first time your remember cooking a meal? What was that like and what did you cook?
- What is your most favorite holiday recipe and whose recipe is it? Make sure you pass on your favorite recipes in the Family Time Capsule.
- What was your most memorable birthday party or any other celebration? Why does this party stand out the most in your mind? Do you remember the presents you received, if any?
- What all did you have to do for chores growing up? Did you get paid an allowance, or per chore, or not at all? Who do you think you learned your work ethic from the most growing up?
- If you received money from chores, what did you spend it on the most?
- Who did you play with the most in your neighborhood when you grew up? What were they like? Who were your best friends? Are you still connected to any of these friends to this day? Where do they live or do you ever get to see each other anymore?
- As Christmas is coming, take some time and reminisce about the good old days. What was your most favorite toy you received as a child and why? Who gave it to you?
Special questions like these are meant to be cherished forever. Preserve Grandma’s history these answers in a Family Time Capsule.
