New Year’s Resolutions that Matter
It is time to write out your New Year’s resolutions that matter. Make it count for 2016. It is so important to learn how to leave a legacy for your children. There is so much going on in the world now, that you never know what will happen next. It is good and bad things happening in the world. What do you want your kids to learn from you? What do you want to make sure your kids pass on to their children too? I believe we all have a purpose. How do you share who you are and what are the most important virtues and characteristic traits you want your children to have?
One day during our lives, we all wonder where we came from, who were our ancestors, and what life was like for people many years ago. Do you ever wonder what life was like for your grandparents or great grandmother? So many things have changed in the world over time. We study our past, so we do not make the same mistakes in the future. So, what about your past do you need to teach your children today?
Your Planner Tells Your Life Legacy
As New Year’s is approaching, many are thinking about resolutions. Why not create New Year’s resolutions that matter and create a legacy. Looking back in your phone, day timer or planner, where did you spend most of your time? That can tell a lot about you and how you left a legacy for your children.
Many grow up with principals and guidelines for how to live life. Most of the time, we learn this instruction from our parents. We get most of our beliefs from our parents, tv, music, faith, etc. What influences how you write out your New Year’s resolutions that matter? Who do you want to be like? Who has impacted your life for the better? What has motivated you to change this new year?
Talk to your family about their goals for the new year. Save your New Year’s resolutions that matter list in a time capsule from www.timecapsule.com. Imagine opening your time capsule one year from now to see how many of your resolutions or predictions about the future came true. Write a “Message to the Future” to yourself.
Everyone has a story to tell. You do not have to have an amazing talent or be famous to leave a legacy. Everyday people can leave a legacy of inspiring stories, words of wisdom, or tips about life. We have all gained knowledge, values and have had important experiences that are invaluable to pass on to others in life. Our purpose is to create and pass on your New Year’s resolutions that matter to your children and great grandchildren.
You are an Example for your Children
Do not leave things up to remembering or our memory. Write stories down. Record your life goals and outcomes to challenges you have had in life. Then, when your children read these things, they will know ahead of time what they may be facing during difficult times. It is the same as the importance why your doctor writes down your family medical history. It helps prepare them for things you may have to face in the future, health wise, too. The same needs to be done for positive things in life, which is why we encourage you to write down these New Year’s resolutions that matter, and talk about them with your children. Pass on to them a legacy of how to stick to your goals and better your life. Leave a legacy to your heirs.
You can write down these resolutions and leave them in a family time capsule or a New Year’s time capsule. You can make these time capsules, using the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule, sold here. Whatever you do, just start writing them down. We will talk more next time about specific ways to leave a legacy to your children.

Making Milestone Moments Count,
