A Name Worth Remembering
A Name Worth Remembering
Have you ever just heard a name, and a flashback memory comes to your mind. Sometimes it can be a good or bad memory. There are so many people in this world that impact our lives and help teach us lessons, values, and shape who we are to this day.
A time capsule is a great way to leave a legacy, especially in this confusing world right now. Are you a family or person who wants to be a part of history? Sometimes in the chaos of this world, we forget what is really important in life. Passing on traditions, stories, virtues, and life lessons are so important. How you shape your children and what you teach them through your words and actions, can influence them to become the next great teacher, preacher, or doctor who finds a cure to AIDS in this world.
I always have trouble remembering names. I can remember faces, but many times in order to remember names I have to make a memory association with it. So, as I am networking and meeting someone new like when I was was recently at a trade show, I have to make funny or fun pictures in my mind to remember someone.
That’s a Name Worth Remembering
We may think it is an sports athlete in the next Olympics coming up in Rio, or it is a famous teacher, but sometimes names worth remembering may be those we pass by on the sidewalk or see at work every day. Growing up as a young girl, I watched ice skating and followed so many important people to me. To others, who could care less, it seemed like a waste of time. We all have different interests. Names can reveal a lot about you, like your character, what you are all about, known for, and what they can do in this world to help others.
Olympians amaze me as their drive, determination, stories of things they have overcome, and work ethic many times are not always told. Instead, they appear on your tv screen with their name and we are amazed at what they can do. Never forget or research where they started and you will find a similar example of what it takes to make it in life or your career as you have good and bad days at work. Don’t ever give up. Sometimes a name worth remembering reminds us of that. I also learned to Dream Big from a name worth remembering, actually several names and mentors in my life. For that, I am beyond grateful. I can never thank my mentors, teachers, parents, and other names worth remembering enough.
Thank a Mentor
My suggestion, is if you have someone in your life who comes to mind as a name worth remembering, is to write them a “Message to the Future” letter to them. Write a thankful letter to them thanking them for helping influence your life. Mention where you see yourself 20 years from now. Where do you see your mentor 20 years from now? Tell them how much you still see them impacting others around them in similar ways that helped shape you too.
Then, use an “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule and decorate it with photos on the outside of you and your mentor years ago. Then fill the time capsule with the “Message to the Future” letter you wrote, along with other mementos that meant something to you or memorabilia of your mentor or person with a name worth remembering. How much fun do you think it will be when that person opens your DIY Time Capsule gift, with all these items in it. You can both take a moment to reminisce and stroll down memory lane of times when your mentor helped you. It will be one of the best thankful gifts you have ever given someone.
Who is one mentor that made an impact on you? Comment below about your situation.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
