Memories to Capture
Memories to Capture
There are so many memories to capture throughout life. Time flies by when you are having fun. Sometimes it would be nice if we could freeze time or at least slow it down. Before you know it you are 10 years older and wondered where all that time went. What did you do with your life? What all have you accomplished that can help you in the future? These are questions I ponder on often.
It is almost July 4th which is a holiday full of memories to capture for so many families. What do you usually do on July 4th as a family or with friends? I cannot believe we are almost half way through the year already. Summer time is especially full of memories to capture. From vacations with family, to Summer camp, babysitting, to back to school shopping again.
Be intentional this year in your planning of Summer activities. Seek out new, exciting, and fun ways to preserve your memories. Prepare to fill your scrapbook or photo album with many fun photos of your Summer fun, and video or voice record your favorite ones to save on your own You Tube page for all of your family to see who may live long distances away.
For July 4th or Independence Day, take pictures and record your family gathering, or your fun times with friends at picnics, parades, swimming, and playing games. Make sure you don’t forget to record your children watching the fireworks, especially if it is your child’s first time seeing them. It would be so much fun to watch this video again years later, reminiscing about what it was like the first time your baby saw fireworks. How did they react to them?
Summer time is also filled with Nature’s gifts to enjoy. Sometimes we get so busy in life that we even forget to stop and enjoy the beautiful nature around us. Go back in time and get your children outside for this Summer and create memories to capture. Remember what it was like 30 years ago when we played outside a lot, instead of staying inside playing video games or computer games for hours?
Have a watermelon seed spitting contest as a family. You would be amazed at how something so simple outside, will bond your family so close as you all have fun laughing together. Remember that old game, Twister? Get that old game out of the back of your closet and go outside to play with your friends and family. Plan a trip to a local orchard or farm to pick your own fruit. Then, come home and go back in time learning how to make your own homemade jelly. It is so much fun and so good that you will never want to buy jelly from the store ever again.
Overall, it can be fun to go back in time to create memories to capture and then preserve in a Family Time Capsule. Pass on these life lessons about life and fun in the time capsule by writing “Message to the Future” letters to yourself or other family members in the future, like your great grandchildren. Teach them how to bond as a family, by having fun with some of these great ideas.
What are some of your own family traditions you do every year that are memories to capture in a Family Time Capsule? Comment below.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
