Make a Graduation Time Capsule
Make a Graduation Time Capsule today, saving all your mementos and memorabilia from school that you do not want to forget. Preserve these memories, so 10, 30, or 50 years from now you can open your graduation time capsule and see how much you have accomplished in life. Who was your favorite teacher? What was your favorite subject? What are your best friends going to do after they graduate from school? How will you stay in contact for the rest of your lives?
So the years have flown by. It is a scary day because it is your last day of high school, similar to your first day of school. After being together for long years together, you try to stay with your friends, but as you grow things can slowly change. Friends move on to further their education, get married, start a job, move away, etc.
It is one of the most unique, heartfelt, and enduring graduation gifts you can give at a party. Do you remember writing a letter to yourself when you were in kindergarten, like a “Message to the Future” letter? Imagine getting that letter in the mail years later when you are an adult. Do you remember what you wrote, about what you wanted to be when you grew up, where you would live, or how many kids you would have?
A Graduation Time Capsule is a gift of remembrance. A gift that brings back a flood of memories to tell you how much you have changed or stayed the same since you first started school.
What you need:
- “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule (Plain Tin with a Do NOT Open Until Date Lid). You can paint on the outside of this DIY Time Capsule, use markers, put any photos you want on the outside, attach scrapbook type embellishments, etc on the outside of this special tin. Get your DIY Time Capsule here, to get you started making your own Graduation Time Capsule.
- Old Report Cards
- Pictures of who the Graduation Time Capsule is for, and their friends.
- Graduation Scrapbook type stickers
- Permanent Markers
- Paint
- Photo computer printer
- Computer
- School mementos collected throughout the student’s life.
- Newspaper from the day the student is graduating.
- Pen
- Camera to take pictures from graduation day and the graduation party.
You can write, draw, or put anything you want on the outside of this DIY Time Capsule to make it for any special occasion. Have all the seniors sign the outside of your graduation time capsule, like a year book.
How to Make a Graduation Time Capsule
- Decorate the outside of your DIY Time Capsule and make it into a Graduation Time Capsule, using your school colors, photos, stickers, markers, paint, and scrapbook embellishments.
- Cover the outside of the DIY Time Capsule with the sticker sheets included, after printing your favorite photos, from your computer or saved from your cell phone, on the sticker sheets.
- Fill your Graduation Time Capsule with your favorite mementos and memorabilia from the beginning of the school year, or your senior year only.
- Have family and friends fill out the included “Message to the Future” letters (that come with the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule). As them to make predictions about where you will be 10, 20, or 30 years from now. Also make predictions about what the world will look like then too.
- Fill in the date of your choice for the “Do NOT Open Until” date on the lid of the DIY Time Capsule.
- Do NOT bury your time capsule. Instead, put is somewhere safe in a closet if you do not want to see it. If you like how it is decorated and you think it would look nice in your living room on a fireplace mantle, or a shelf somewhere, then keep it out for display.
- Wait in anticipation until your date to open the Graduation Time Capsule and reminisce all over again what the year was like when you made your time capsule.
I can’t think of a better class reunion, than to open a Graduation Time Capsule with mementos and memories from the whole class. All the students can sign the outside of this graduation time capsule, then you can display it in a glass case at the school. What would you put in your graduation time capsule? Comment below.
