Life Journey Time Capsule
Have you ever made a life journey time capsule? Remember making a time capsule in kindergarten? Your past kindergarten teacher may have already sent a letter you wrote to yourself in elementary school. Imagine making an up to date life journey time capsule. Never take a day for granted. Leave a legacy for yourself. Be a part of history and make a time capsule.
The Story
It was the time of year, when it was so cold out that the ponds froze. There was plenty of snow on the ground, and you needed to wear warm boots, snowsuits, hats, and gloves. Wanting to be prepared for a long day outside, my brothers and I took our time getting dressed. This particular year, the pond had a shiner gloss to it. My dad always checked the ice thickness first before we got on the pond ourselves. He wanted to make sure it was frozen enough, so we would not fall through.
It was a scary moment, as we watched our dad protect us and be cautious, before we ice skated on the ice. It was a day that I didn’t even want my dad to get on the ice, because it looked more melted than it normally should, but he said it was ok. So, he got on the ice and checked the thickness of the ice. You could hear some cracking as he drilled through the ice to make a small hole and check the thickness. I was worried at one moment when he was drilling, but then my brothers and I waited for those famous words from his mouth. He said, “It is fine.” We were so excited and started sledding and ice skating on the pond.
Numbering Our Days
It was a day that I first realized that my dad could have died, trying to protect us. It was a moment I learned as a young child to be grateful for everyday. We are all going to die someday, and it is good for us to think about it, but not dwell on it. Instead it is right for us to prepare for and make the most out of every day of our lives. My parents taught me many things, but something else I learned that day is it takes great risk, to reap great rewards many times. I know this as truth, since being an entrepreneur.
Focus on things that matter in your life. It is great to have plans everyday, but try not to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of your daily agenda, to the point that you forget your purpose. What are you on this Earth for? How will you leave a legacy for your children and great grandchildren?
Many people say, “Time is money,” what what does it cost you when you do not slow down and enjoy your time with your children or grandchildren? Actually rest is very helpful for our bodies and minds to rejuvenate itself from the long, hard week. So, what do you do on your days off? How do you spend your precious time with family and friends?
