Journal Writing — End of Year Tips for Preserving Family Memories
Journal writing is one of the best ways to relieve your thoughts. Journal writing is also an amazing gift you give yourself to read in the future, when you forget about what all you have accomplished in life. As another year draws to an end, it’s time to reflect and preserve the family and individual memories of yesteryear. Your year in review!
Matters not written down or recorded are soon forgotten.
Family bonds are strengthened by keeping stories and family memories alive, and it is gratifying to look back to see how we’ve grown over the last year and where we were.
In аn іdеаl wоrld, wе wоuld have all kept a daily, weekly or monthly journal during the year, but the majority of us do not do that. So let’s make up for lost time! Here are some thoughts and tips for reviewing the events from the last year in your life.

Getting Started Begin by breaking down by month, season or essential milestones and events.
Health: What significant changes in your health happened? If this category doesn’t jog your memory; it is a good thing.
Occupation: Write about highlights and changes in your career. Tell about awards won; promotions received or happenings at work.
History: Write about “Тhіs tіmе а уеаr аgо…”

Deaths in the Family: Write about people who’ve passed away. Include family, friends and, if there was a well-known individual (someone famous) that also passed away, that meant a lot to you.
Travel and Residences: Where did you travel for this year? Who did you travel to see? Who in the household moved closer or farther away?
Big Purchases: List your significant purchases during the year. What prompted these purchases? Take a look in your wallet or handbag to dig up receipts. Use copies of checks, or an internet bank ledger/statement to remind you of where you went and what you did.
Children: Don’t forget your kids. What were sоmе оf thе mіlеstоnеs іn thеіr lives last year? If your kids are old enough, ask them to write down ten things that they remember best about the last year. You may surprise.
Children’s drawings and art: They draw and make so many, and it’s hard to keep them all. Select the best — scan them and save them.
Family Photos: Review your pictures taken and shot during the last year. Describe the events seen from the games and pictures. By way of instance, birthday parties, events at school with the kids, etc..
