Hometown Visit
A hometown visit can be so much fun. Have you ever gone back to your hometown to see what all has changed? It is like a trip down memory lane. Driving down certain roads during your hometown visit can bring up so many memories.
Maybe you have never moved before. If not, visit your great grandparent’s hometown. You may learn something about yourself, and how you are similar to them, after visiting their hometown. Many times, we do not know why we do the things we do, because we have not taken the time to learn about our past family history. Interview your grandparents, and you may find some answers to your own personality quirk questions.
Share your stories about growing up, while on your hometown visit. Talk about the culture you grew up and practiced, with your current children. Maybe they will like that culture and start to share similar values and virtues you had when you grew up. Sometimes when you have a hometown visit, it is like walking in a familiar building with a distinct smell, sights, tastes, etc.
The Story – His Children Visit His Hometown
He was visiting his hometown, which has changed for the worse overtime, unfortunately. Since he was a very protective father, he was worried about his children going shopping there, or seeing other sights on their own. The father was in such shock how many places have closed down, and yet how many new businesses have emerged in his hometown. This is why he wanted his family to make sure they all stayed together, when walking. His babies, I mean grown children, have grown up and now have minds of their own.
The grown adult children were enjoying the visit more than their father now, because he was so nervous about his “kids” going out on their own during the hometown visit. It is amazing how, when we get in our comfort zones, our real personality comes out. When it came time for the father to visit his great grandfather’s grave, he remembered him being overly protective as well with his children. He realized, how much family really does influence you, no matter where you grow up. He quickly thought, he does not want to continue this lifestyle of control with his adult children, but instead make the most of the life he has with them.
It was a memorable vacation on this hometown visit. It was a time of both memories and realization. He grew up thinking this over protection was normal, but instead learned that it was making his family more upset because they could not venture out in the world. He vowed in the Family Time Capsule, to not pass on these learned behaviors that has been passed down in his family, but instead start a new good, tradition, to be open to learning and adventure more. You see, after visiting his grandfather’s memorial and talking to his mother about him. He realized his grandfather had so much fear, after fighting in a war at a young age. He absorbed so much of that fear from his father, who got it from his grandfather. It is a chain of fear that was broken that day, in the family, because he did not want to pass that down to his kids. This was definitely a memorable hometown visit.
Leave a Positive Legacy for your Children
