Family Bonding
Family bonding time is irreplaceable. There are so many memories made during family bonding time. What are some of your family traditions during the holidays, let alone during your daily evenings? Every day is special. Your kids will not be living in your home forever, so make the most of it today.
Some people celebrate Christmas in July. I love Christmas, so I am all for celebrating it two times a year. Holidays are filled with keepsake memories to treasure forever. You play fun games, make great food, shop, sing fun songs, and have fun family bonding time.
What is so important about family bonding time is you get to know each other even more, while enjoying yourselves at the same time. You want to create an atmosphere that is inviting and fun every day in your home, not just on holidays. Family bonding activities can help create that environment.
As each day passes, we get closer and closer to losing family members. I do not mean to be negative at all, but instead want you to reflect on your own life. What are you doing currently as a family to bond closer? How will you leave a legacy for your children and grand children? Family bonding occurs when we slow down and realize we need to spend quality time with our children or grand children.
What are some fun family bonding activities to do?
- play board games
- have a picnic together
- go camping
- look at an old family album
- plant flowers
- ride your bikes
- create your own pizza night
- watch a movie together, then discuss it afterwards
- play basketball or any other fun sport together
- relive your childhood, and build a snowman
- make a family time capsule
Family bonding is a time to remind your children that you will always be there until the day you pass away. Never take your family time for granted. We all grow closer together as family members when we do things together, or work through the good and bad times together.
What information do you know about your family? You may not know some great stories from your grandparents or great grandparents, so sit down and interview them. Ask them what school was like when they grew up. What was it like growing up in their home with their parents? What did they do for fun?
You might be surprised how many similarities in the family are passed down, once you start sharing these stories. Create a family time capsule as a lasting gift to yourselves during this family bonding time. Save special mementos, memorabilia, and heirlooms from this past year in the family time capsule. Imagine opening this time capsule, on a date of your choosing decades in the future. It will be so much fun to see what all you have accomplished as a family, and how close you became over the past years.
You can make a family time capsule with your own personalized photos, using the “any occasion” DIY time capsule seen here. So, what would you put in a family time capsule? Comment below.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
