Creative Way to Forgive Someone
Creative Way to Forgive Someone
This is your chance to change history and forgive someone. It is not always easy to forgive someone, but know that forgiveness is really for you, not the other person. Forgiveness is definitely a lesson my parents taught my brothers and I, and for that I am very grateful. Forgiveness helps us move forward in life and teaches problem solving skills at the same time.
We are all unique and in a world of social media with so many negative comments, there is plenty of room to say you are sorry. Remember when you were younger and your brothers or sisters destroyed some of your toys. How did you react? My parents made us apologize to each other and really mean it. We also had to say what we were sorry for, which was a humbling experience that I believe drew us closer to each other, as we usually hugged each other in the end.
When I was working in the counseling field, there were many families who had years worth of issues that built up without any forgiveness. Many of the youth I worked with, did not have a father in their lives and it affected their behavior and thoughts about themselves. Forgiveness does not always lead to peace, but it can offer a more feeling of freedom for you inside. Due to not knowing where their father way, many times we had to use creative ways to learn about forgiveness. There were so many unanswered questions in their head, about their dad. It was a sad situation.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
So, sometimes to really forgive someone, it helps to understand the other person first. So, if you can talk to the person you need to forgive, then do it, even if it is in the form of a letter. You may find out that the other person was actually jealous of you. If you are tired of being angry and it is to the point it may be affecting your health, then find the time to write out your thoughts and feelings to forgive someone.
Write a “Message to the Future” letter to yourself about your predictions of your future and what you want it to look like. If it is safe, mail that letter to the someone you are trying to forgive. If not, take your stress and heartache out on a shovel and bury that letter, or have a bonfire with friends who also need to write similar letters, then throw them in the fire and let it go.
End the evening by making your own life journey time capsule. Put your “Message to the Future” letter to yourself in your life journey time capsule. Then, put other items that are sentimental and important to you, representing your current life and the world. Finally, choose a date in the future to put on the lid, to open your time capsule. Overall, make sure you forgive yourself through this process. That is the most important thing you can do, as you let go and preserve the meaningful memories in your life journey time capsule.
Use the “Any Occasion” DIY Time Capsule to put any photos you want on the outside to decorate it and make your own life journey time capsule. Imagine opening this life journey time capsule in 20 or 30 years from now. It will be so inspiring to see how much you have accomplished in life, in the future. So, what would you put in your life journey time capsule? Comment below.
Making Milestone Moments Count,
